BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Northeastern women's ice hockey alumna
Hayley Scamurra was selected to the 2018 National Women's Hockey League (NWHL) All-Star Game, as announced Monday by the league. Scamurra was drafted by Team Ott, which will compete against Team Leveille on Feb. 11 in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
A native of Williamsville, New York, Scamurra was drafted tenth overall by the Buffalo Beauts in the 2016 NWHL Draft. Scamurra has had an outstanding first year in the NWHL, starting her career with an Isobel Cup championship last March. Scamurra racked up four points in two games during the Beauts' playoff run on a goal and three assists.
Scamurra's impressive play then earned her a spot on Team NWHL for a two-game series against the U.S. Olympic Team this January. Scamurra was one of three forwards chosen from the Beauts, and was able to get Team NWHL on the scoreboard with a goal in the second game of the series.
Scamurra finished her career at Northeastern with 39 goals, 72 assists, and 111 points in 123 games. Scamurra was a three-time member of the WHEA All-Academic Team, and was named the league's Best Defensive Forward as a senior in 2016-17.
