Northeastern Hall of Famer
Mike Glavine has been named to the full time position of Assistant Baseball Coach, replacing another former Husky, Pat Mason, who was recently hired as the No. 1 Assistant at Virginia Tech.
For the past five years, Glavine has been the Huskies batting coach and brings a wealth of knowledge to the program from his playing days in the minor leagues.
Glavine reached the majors for a brief time in the Mets organization and is the brother of Tom Glavine, recently retired from the Atlanta Braves, after an illustrious major league career.
Glavine's responsibilities will also include coordinating all scouting and recruiting for the Huskies, as well as much of the day-to-day operations of the program.
Glavine spent four years at Northeastern and left as one of the most prolific hitters in Huskies history. He made a big splash in his freshman season, as he batted .307 with 19 extra-base hits, including a school-record nine triples. In his career, the first baseman hit 28 home runs and knocked in 110 RBI, which placed him third and ninth, respectively, in the school's all-time record books. The left-handed slugger also accumulated 120 career walks, good for second all-time at Northeastern, as well as a .552 slugging percentage.
