Men's soccer to sign 8-year old Simon Pelletier

BOSTON – Together with Team IMPACT, the Northeastern men's soccer team is proud to announce that 8-year-old Simon Pelletier of Winthrop, Massachusetts, will sign a National Letter of Intent to join the Huskies on Wednesday, Sept. 26, during a special Draft Day ceremony at Parsons Field in Brookline.
Upon signing, Simon – who is courageously battling lymphoma – will become an official member of the men's soccer team, receive a team locker with gear, and be welcome to attend all team functions, including practices, matches, team dinners, events, and more.
Simon's Draft Day ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 26 with opening remarks to be made by Northeastern head coach Chris Gbandi. The event will be closed to the Northeastern men's soccer team, Simon's family, and members of the media.

Team IMPACT is a national nonprofit headquartered in Boston that connects children facing serious or chronic illnesses with college athletic teams, forming life-long bonds and life-changing outcomes. Since 2011, Team IMPACT has matched nearly 1,600 children with more than 500 colleges and universities in 48 states, reaching over 50,000 participating student-athletes. The child joins the athletic team and the student-athletes join the child's support team. Throughout the journey, the child gains strength, camaraderie and support while the student-athletes experience lessons of courage, resiliency, and perspective they can't learn in a classroom.
