BOSTON – Northeastern men's rowing assistant coach Jimmy Catalano will compete for the United States at the 2023 World Rowing Championships. Catalano, who is making his second straight appearance with the senior national team, will cox the men's eight.

The 2023 World Rowing Championships run September 3-10 in Belgrade, Serbia and are the first opportunity for countries to qualify boats for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Catalano recently completed his first season with the Huskies, where he helped the program to a sixth-place finish in the first varsity at the IRA Championships.

As an athlete, Catalano guided the United States to a fourth-place finish in the eight at the 2022 World Rowing Championships. As a member of the Under-23 team, he led the four to a bronze medal at the 2021 World Rowing Under 23 Championships and won the U23 eight and senior eight at the 2019 Canadian Henley.

Catalano rowed at the University of Wisconsin from 2017-2022, and most recently earned a Master's Degree in Private Equity Real Estate. Catalano also has a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, which he received in 2021. As a member of the men's rowing program, he helped the Badgers to a pair of top-15 finishes in the first varsity at the 2021 and 2022 IRA Championships.
