Adam Ottavino (class of 2008) is the program’s all-time leader in career strikeouts with 290, and the third all-time leader in career strikeouts per nine innings at 10.30 (minimum 100 innings pitched). Ottavino holds the top two single-season strikeout totals in 2006 (120) and 2005 (106), respectively. He also owns the fourth-highest single-season strikeouts per inning average in program history (11.53 in 2006).
In 2005, Ottavino was named the America East Pitcher of the Year after going 8-4 with a 3.09 earned run average and 106 strikeouts in 96 innings pitched. He followed that up with an All-CAA First Team honor and three CAA Pitcher of the Week accolades in 2006.
Ottavino, who was drafted 30th overall by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2006, is just one of three Huskies ever to be selected in the first round of the Makor League Baseball Draft. He is now a relief pitcher for the Colorado Rockies, and has appeared in 194 games with 254 strikeouts in 255 innings over five MLB seasons.
