Curtis C. Brooks, who has since passed away, was elected to the Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in the sports of track and baseball.

Brooks earned three letters in track and one in baseball and was considered one of the nation's finest all-around athletes. He was the first Northeastern athlete to capture a New England or Eastern Intercollegiate Championship. He established himself as a contemporary superstar in track and field with his exploits in the weight events. During his illustrious career at Northeastern, Brooks almost single-handedly carried the track program by dominating New England opponents in the discus, javelin, hammer and shot events. "Northeastern's One Man Team" as many a newspaper headline reported, hurled the javelin record distances to win the event in the 1924 New England and Eastern Intercollegiate Championships. In the process, he shattered the Maine state record in the discus and hammer.

Between 1922 and 1924, the man referred to as "a giant in his field" by sportswriters in New England and throughout the country, averaged an amazing 15 points individually in dual and championship meets. And when track and field dates were not conflicting, Brooks displayed his athletic versatility on the baseball diamond as a clean-up hitting, slick fielding first baseman. He climaxed his career as the American record holder in the discuss, javelin and shot put.

Brooks received his bachelors in Engineering from Northeastern in 1924, and a masters in Mathematics from BU in 1938. He taught for many years at Framingham High School, where he also coached track, and at Northeastern's Lincoln College.
