Donald G. Turcotte was inducted into the Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in the sport of ice hockey.
Northeastern's explosive pocket rocket defenseman earned three varsity letters and was recognized around New England as one of the circuit's complete players. A flashy player who often dominated games, Turcotte made up for his lack of size (5'9, 165) with exceptional skating and puckhandling skills. Turcotte made All New England as a sophomore and was Most Valuable Player at the prestigious Christmas Tournament at Madison Square Garden. He was also voted Outstanding Sophomore of the Year by the New England College Hockey Writers.
Turcotte helped put the Huskies on the map with his performance in the Big Apple, as Northeastern marched to one of its best seasons ever at 18-10-0. Second Team All East honors were next in line for Turcotte as a junior, when Northeastern rolled to another banner year at 16-12-1. During Turcotte's tenure as a Husky, Northeastern surged into the playoffs in consecutive seasons 1965 and 1966 and came of age in the hierarchy of Eastern Division I hockey. Thanks to players of Turcotte's caliber, Northeastern by 1967, had shed its perennial tag as a spoiler of other team's playoff dreams and Turcotte made it a "hat trick" by being voted All New England and team MVP three years in a row.
