Jim Dawson (class of 1984) ranks fourth in program history with a shot put throw of 18.44m and seventh all-time with a discus throw of 52.12m.
 
In 1982, he was one of the top-five all-time performers at the New England Intercollegiate Indoor Track and Field Championships with a shot put throw of 17.92m. In 1983, he helped his team to a N.E.I.C.A.A.A. outdoor championship with his second-place finish in the shot put (18.44m).
