Joseph J. Donahue was elected to the Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as an athlete and coach in track in field.

Donahue graduated in 1963 as one of New England's premier weight throwers. In 1961, he captured the prestigious Alumni Track Trophy as the Most Valuable Performer. After graduation, Donahue immediately began carving his niche in the coaching kingdom. Almost directly from the commencement ceremony, he was hired by Irwin Cohen to coach at NU. Donahue coached Tommy Sirois to an IC4A 35 pound weight championship and went on to help a slew of athletes achieve All-American and national champion status. Donahue's team's and athletes continued to bring in Greater Boston, New England, IC4A, National and Olympic qualifiers and champions. Many of Donahue's athletes broke the records that he had set. Coaching and teaching have been parallel lives for the South Boston naive. The mix of special needs students with mainstream middle and high school students in the Dorchester and West Roxbury systems -- blended with thousands of Husky athletes -- represents a litany of achievement. Every summer he conducts a field events camp that is the springboard for scores of future collegiate stars.
