Richard D. Paster was elected to the Hall of Fame for excellence in the sport of baseball.

Paster and his bat led Northeastern to its first ever trip to the College World Series in 1966. As a sophomore, he exploded into the varsity line up hitting .320 as NU enjoyed a 13-8 record. In 1966 NU had their own version of the Impossible Dream. That season, Paster set an NU record for runs batted in with 34, almost one and a half RBI per game. The team went 16-6 and finished 8-1 in the Greater Boston Collegiate Conference to win their first title in the 15-year history of the conference. In the New England Championship game versus Boston College, Paster came to the plate with the bases loaded, two outs and the game tied 1-1. He unleashed a line drive to left-center to clear the bases. Later in the ninth he would single home two more runs as NU won 10-2. Paster scored two runs and drove in five others to assure NU's trip to Omaha, Neb. and the College World Series.

Paster would go on to play three years of professional baseball in the Red Sox minor league system before turning to his pursuit of a career in law. He is now a partner in the law firm of Paster, Rice and Castleman. Paster is married to the former Nancy Johnson, NU Class of 1968 and daughter of deceased NU Hall of Fame member Brad Johnson.
