Tom Kiefer was elected to the Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in the sport of rowing.

Kiefer was a collegiate superstar and later won an Olympic medal as an international elite oarsman. Kiefer stepped into the stroke seat of the freshman boat and rowed it to its only Eastern Sprint Title. As a sophomore he moved into the varsity eight and remained there for three years. During his varsity career, the Huskies won 10 regular-season regattas while losing only four. In 1981, as a senior, Northeastern was among the nation's finest, finishing third in both the Eastern Sprints and the IRA. In the spring of 1981, Tom graduated from NU and moved on to a six year stint with the United States national team, where he won three bronze medals in World Championships and in 1986, won a gold in Moscow at the Goodwill Games. His crowning moment came in 1984 at the Twenty-third modern Olympiad, winning a silver medal, missing out on gold by one second.
