William J. Corsetti was inducted into the Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in the sport of track and field.

A former fullback as a freshman at Northeastern, Corsetti recognized a natural affinity for the field events, and as a sophomore began to blossom as one of the nation's premier hammer and 35 pound weight throwers. Corsetti was a fast learner, as he was named Trackman of the Year as a sophomore in the 1962-63 season. By the time he was a junior, he was taking home All American honors in the hammer, which he also won as a senior. Corsetti established the University record indoors in the 35 pound weight (62-2 1/2), and the outdoor mark in the hammer throw, a heave of 201 feet 9 inches in 1965. His intensely competitive nature usually gave Corsetti a tremendous advantage against his peers in the circle. Besides capturing the New England hammer title in 1964, Corsetti was the IC4A Champion as a junior, and third in the weight as a senior in 1965.

In 1964, he finished second in the hammer at the NCAA's and later finished fifth in the Olympic Trials. In an equally impressive show of "big meet" efficiency, Corsetti placed third in the prestigious K of C Meet with a throw of 60 1/4 in the weight, third in the NCAA's in the hammer, first in the Penn Relay hammer throw competition and sixth in the national AAU's.
