Matt Janning has been named Northeastern's Student-Athlete of the Week for the Christmas break after averaging 15.6 points and leading the men's basketball team to a 7-2 mark.
After the Huskies won the 2009 Cable Car Classic championship, Janning was named the tournament's MVP for averaging 17 points and knocking down the game-winning three-pointer with just over a minute remaining in the title game vs. Kent State.
This season, Janning is fifth in the CAA in scoring at 16.1 points a game. He has reached double figures in scoring in 15 of NU's 16 games and has three 20-point outings to his name, including a season-high 23 points at Georgia State this past Saturday.
For his career, Janning is currently eighth all-time at Northeastern in scoring with 1,585 points.
Janning and the Huskies, who have won seven straight games, will host Delaware on Wednesday at Matthews Arena at 7 p.m.
