Brittany Wilson of the women's basketball team has been named Northeastern's Student-Athlete of the Week after averaging 30.5 points per game and 15.5 rebounds per game in two games this past week. Wilson was also named CAA Co-Player of the Week for her efforts, her second in as many weeks.
Against Harvard on December 9, Wilson posted a career-high 34 points and 21 rebounds. She became the first Husky since Carla Singleton to score at least 30 points and 20 rebounds in a game, as Singleton had 33 points and 20 rebounds against Maine on February 7, 1987. Wilson's 21 rebounds broke Singleton's 22-year single-game record.
Coupled with her 31 points against Holy Cross on December 2, Wilson also became the first Northeastern player since Tesha Tinsley to post back-to-back 30-point games, who did so during the 1998-99 season.
On Sunday December 13 at Hartford, Wilson led the Huskies with 27 points and 10 rebounds, taking Hartford down to the wire before falling 68-63 in overtime.
Wilson leads Northeastern in scoring and rebounding with 19.6 points per game and 6.8 rebounds a contest while ranking sixth in the CAA in scoring and 12th in rebounding.
Northeastern takes a break for exams and returns to action on December 22, traveling to take on Marist at 7:30 p.m.
