Redshirt freshman Lizzie Priest of the Northeastern University field hockey team has earned WomensFieldHockey.com Rookie of the Week honors and the Northeastern Student-Athlete of the Week accolade, as announced today. On Monday, Priest was named CAA Co-Rookie of the Week after pitching two shutouts last week in a pair of Husky victories.
Priest is the first Husky to be awarded a WomensFieldHockey.com honor this season. The website examines the top performances around the country on a weekly basis and also releases a poll of the top-20 teams, in which Northeastern was ranked 16th this week.
The North Vancouver, British Columbia native joins Pam Aldridge and Crystal Poland as the third NU field hockey player to be nominated for Student-Athlete of the Week honors.
Priest has not allowed a goal in over 159 consecutive minutes and has lowered her GAA to 1.59, good for the second-best mark in the CAA.
The Huskies return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 14 vs. Connecticut at Boston College's Newton Campus Field at 7 p.m.
