Junior Pam Aldridge of the Northeastern University field hockey team has been named Student-Athlete of the Week following a pair of impressive performances in two Husky victories last week.
Aldridge scored the Huskies' first goal in a 3-1 win over Quinnipiac on Friday. It was her first tally of the 2009 season. The junior midfielder also produced four shots in the game, directing two on net.
In the team's next game, against rival Boston University, Aldridge provided late-game heroics. With the score tied at three, the Huskies earned a penalty corner with 90 seconds remaining in regulation. On the ensuing play, Aldridge picked up a loose ball in front of the Terrier net and tucked it inside the far post with 1:07 remaining to give NU a 4-3 lead. The Huskies would not relinquish the advantage as they hung on for their third consecutive victory.
Aldridge now has four points on the 2009 season; the junior led all Husky scorers last year with 20 points on 10 goals and three assists.
The Huskies return to action this Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. at Providence.
