Northeastern 6, Albany 3

BROOKLINE, MA - Northeastern defeated the Great Danes of Albany 6-3 Sunday afternoon in a physical game at Parsons Field. The win marks the Huskies' sixth straight conference victory. Antha Kirkopoulos scored two goals, including the game-winner, and Anders Hoyem added a goal and three assists to help the Huskies come back from a two-goal deficit in the first half.

Albany got on the board first in the high-scoring contest when Jason Warshaw netted a shot from 12 yards out just six minutes into the game. Nate Houghton answered for NU just two minutes later to even the score at 1-1. The Great Dane's then got a pair of goals from Greg Chevalier to give Albany a 3-1 advantage with only 12 minutes played in the first half. Shortly after Chevalier's second goal, the Huskies were struck a major blow as Houghton went down hard on a foul by Albany's Ryan Bombard and dislocated his shoulder.

Despite the loss of Houghton, one of NU's main offensive weapons, the scoring continued. Husky reserve forward LeRoy Watkins narrowed the margin to 3-2 in the 30th minute, scoring off an assist from Chris Beston. Kirkopoulos scored the first of his two goals just two minutes later to even the game at 3-3 and then added the goal that would prove to be game-winner in the 42nd minute to give NU a 4-3 halftime lead. Petter Starnas and Hoyem each added insurance goals in the second half to give the Huskies a 6-3 come-from-behind win.
