Northeastern won its third straight match on Wednesday, 1-0 over Maine in driving rain at Orono, Maine. Sophomore Michael Cipriano scored the only goal of the game in the second half to improve the Huskies' record to 6-6-2 overall and 3-1 in the America East.
Cipriano took a shot from the far right side of the field and the ball bounced off the top post and in for the score at the 65:38 mark. The goal was Cipriano's third of the season.
Freshman goalie Sergio Saccoccio, the current America East Rookie of the Week, made two saves in net to record his second career shutout. The Huskies will be at home on Saturday to face America East leader Vermont at 5 p.m. The Catamounts are 8-4-1 overall and 3-0-1 in league play.
