Saint Peter's 2, Northeastern 1

Senior Rinaldo Chambers and freshman Chris Megaloudis each scored in the middle of the second half, as Saint Peter's came from behind for a 2-1 win over visiting Northeastern in a non-conference game Tuesday afternoon. Saint Peter's is now 3-0, while Northeastern drops to 1-3-1.

The Huskies led 1-0 on a goal in the 33rd minute by captain Nate Houghton, assisted by Athanasios Kirkopoulos. Kirkopoulos booted a free kick into the goal area, where Houghton settled the ball and shot a 10-yarder past Saint Peter's keeper Pat Nagawiecki. It was the first goal against Saint Peter's this season.

Chambers tied the contest at 64:52 on his third goal this season. The senior controlled a loose ball about 45 yards from the goal, took on one defender to create space and fired a thigh-high blast into the goal from about 35 yards out.

It didn't take long for the Peacocks to notch what would be the winning goal on Megaloudis's first career tally in the 70th minute. The freshman beat NU goalkeeper Sergio Saccoccio one-on-one to finish a play assisted by Carlos Villacres and Douglas Narvaez.

The shots were even, 15-15, in a match played at a high pace despite a heat index approaching 90 degrees. Saccoccio made five saves for the Huskies. Nagawiecki made three saves, and John Moschella had four saves playing the entire second half for the Peacocks.

Northeastern next plays at home on Saturday, when they host St. Francis at 4 p.m.
