Box Score The Northeastern men's soccer team dropped its second game of the season on Friday, falling to host team Denver, 3-0, at the John Byrden Classic at Pioneer Field.
Denver freshman James Merriman got the Pioneers on the board early, scoring the game-winning goal in the 11th minute on a low shot that got by Huskies' goalkeeper Sergio Saccoccio.
Sophomore Thomas Flynn added some insurance just three minutes into the second half, picking up his second goal of the year. Denver would add one more in the 80th minute to finish off the Huskies. NU was outshot in the match, 12-9, while Saccoccio posted two saves in the loss.
Northeastern now stands 2-2 overall on the year while the Pioneers advance to 2-3-1. The Huskies will meet Air Force in the final round of the tournament on Sunday at 11 a.m. (MST).
