Box Score The Northeastern(1-3) men's soccer team held on to a 2-1 lead for over 30 minutes against Quinnipiac (2-2) at Bobcat Field on Wednesday afternoon to get its first win of the season.
NU scored for the first time this season. They were shutout their previous three contests.
Michael Cipriano ended the scoreless streak at the 22-minute mark on a breakaway with a through-ball by Wilfredo Naveiro. Seven minutes later Julian Daniels made a lead pass to Adam Jensen in the box for the NU's second goal of the game.
The game was plagued by a total of 43 fouls, 28 of those against the Husky's. NU outshot the Bobcats 16-5 and had a 5-4 edge on corner kicks.
Sergio Saccoccio had two saves in net, while Quinnipiac's Con Shilcock-Elliott made eight stops.
The Bobcats' only goal came when Truong Nguyen's sideline save led to Lassana Camara's goal. The loss ended Quinnipiac's two-game win streak.
The win gives Northeastern a 5-1 all-time record against Quinnipiac.
Northeastern will look to make it two in a row this Saturday, Sept.8 at 7 p.m. against Bradley in Peoria, Ill.
