Box Score Northeastern (1-5) was blanked by Holy Cross (1-4), 2-0, on Tuesday afternoon in Worcester, Mass.
Crusaders sophomore Alex Cruz scored in the 24th minute when a pass led him to beat two NU defensemen and score a low shot past junior goalkeeper Sergio Saccoccio into the left corner of the net. Freshman Sefton Kincaid gave the Crusaders an insurance goal 11 minutes later with a shot 18 yards out.
Saccoccio made a career-high 11 saves, which breaks his previous personal best of 10 he made in the season-opener against Virginia Tech. Holy Cross keeper junior Mark Whipple had seven saves to record his third shutout of the season.
NU held a 5-2 edge in corners.
The Huskies return home to Parsons Field this Saturday to face Vermont at 4 p.m. to start the America East season.
