Box Score Northeastern (2-5-1) battled St. Peter's to a 1-1 draw Friday afternoon at Parsons Field.
NU got on the board in the 34th minute when senior midfielder Aaron Birnbaum scored on a header off a pass by senior captain Tom Heimreid. Birnbaum entered the game just two minutes earlier
The Peacocks responded in the second half when Marco Orias found freshman Murphy Wiredo at the center top of the box. Orias shot a low kick past Husky goalkeeper Sergio Saccoccio.
Saccoccio kept the game tied with several key saves toward the end of the game. St. Peter's kept the pressure on with 30 shots, seven of which were on net.
St. Peter's outshot NU, 5-0, in overtime.
The Peacocks edged NU in corners, 7-2, as well as shots, 30-7.
The Huskies travel to Albany Saturday, Oct. 2 for their second America East game of the season. The Huskies are 1-0-0 in America East action.
