Box Score The Huskies lost a close battle with James Madison, 2-1, in overtime on Sunday afternoon. Senior Jay Betley scored NU's only goal.
James Madison jumped into the lead in a minute and thirty-five seconds when Mark Totten found an open Nick Zimmerman, who connected a five-yard shot the hit the cross bar and went in. The Dukes' defense was stingy in the first half not allowing Northeastern a shot.
The Husky equalizer came on an unassissted goal by Betley. Betley nailed a 16-yard shot in the top left corner of the goal. NU was outshot 16-2.
The game-winning goal came in the 94th minute of the first overtime when Kurt Morsink crossed a ball to Danny Sheridan who flicked it to Esteban Maldonado. Maldonando scored from 15 yards out.
Sophomores Ray Dinizio and Padraig Tangney and JMU's Tristan Murray and Mark Totten all received yellow cards. James Madison led in corners by a margin of eight, 11-3.
NU will resume its playoff hunt against Hofstra in New York, next Friday, Nov. 4.
