Box Score The Northeastern men's soccer team opened the season with a 6-0 loss to Coastal Carolina on Thursday night at the Coastal Carolina/Adidas Invitational.
The Chanticleers received six goals from six different players. Craig Reed put Coastal Carolina on the board off a corner from Daniel O'Brien 11 minutes into the first half. 20 minutes later, Patrick Roberson scored to give the Chanticleers a two-goal advantage into the half.
Coastal Carolina came out of the locker room to add four goals all within 11 minutes. Peter Louis scored off a through ball three minutes into the second half, followed by a Joseph Kabwe goal from the left side four minutes later during the 48th minute. Brad Stisser would head another in off a 20-yard pass from Lachlan Cahill another four minutes later, only for Dominic Rossi to score one more in the 59th minute.
NU was outshot 22 to five while the Chanticleers had a 10-0 advantage on corners. Northeastern senior goalkeeper Sergio Saccoccio made nine saves.
CCU keepers, Ryan Nowak and Aaron Weant split time in net and recorded a save each.
The Huskies take on Furman on Saturday, Sept. 3 at 5 p.m.
