Box Score The Huskies won their third straight game and collected their first road victory of the season against Virginia Commonwealth on Friday in a 3-1 victory.
Freshman forward Nick Lueders scored the first two goals of his career, the first of which came only a minute into the game. Lueders took a rebound from the left side about 12 yards out and knocked it home to give the Huskies a 1-0 advantage.
VCU evened it up with 10 minutes left in the first half when Sven Meusch headed in a cross from Alan Delahunty from five yards out. It was the last goal sophomore Mahmoud Talaat would allow.
Ahmed Talaat gave the Huskies the lead in the second half when he took a pass from freshman Santiago Bedoya and fired it into the right corner of the net. It was Talaat's team-leading sixth goal of the season and Bedoya's second assist
Lueders locked up the game on a break-away with only a minute to go on a pass from Matthew Laning. The Rams out shot the Huskies 23-10 and held a 8-1 advantage on the corners, but Talaat stopped eight attempts, including six in the second half to secure Northeastern's lead.
The Huskies improve to 5-7 and 3-2 in the CAA, while VCU falls to 5-5-2 and 1-4 in conference play. The Huskies take on James Madison on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Harrisonburg, VA.
