Box Score The Northeastern University men's soccer team fell in the season opener on Saturday to Quinnipiac 2-0 in Hamden, Conn.

The Bobcats' offense clicked early when Ross McGibney scored on a cross from Danilo Schiavon at the 9:49 mark. Schiavon later put in a rebound with 24 minutes left, the last goal by either team. After a rough start, NU sophomore goalkeeper Mahmoud Talaat held the Bobcats in check and finished the game with six saves.

The Huskies had multiple opportunities to score throughout the game but Quinnipiac goalkeeper Frederick Hall stopped all eight attempts on goal. NU was outshot by the Bobcats, 22-17, but had the same number of shots on goal (eight).

Alexander Volk, who was named to the 2007 preseason All-CAA team, went down in the first half with a leg injury an did not return.

The Huskies play their second game at Boston University on Monday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. Northeastern's first home match is Sunday, Sept. 7 when they host Maine at Parsons Field at 6 p.m.
