The Huskies avenged their loss in last year's CAA Championship game as they downed George Mason 1-0 in Fairfax, Va. The loss is just the Patriots' second in their last nine games.
George Mason came out firing in the first half, launching six shots in the first fifteen minutes to the Huskies one. Despite the impressive attack, the Huskies were able to move the ball into the Patriots' end and earned two corner kicks in the 27th and 28th minutes. The second corner from
Andre Ciliotta found freshman
Josh Danesh on the back post and Danesh fired one in for his second tally of the season.
After taking the lead early the Huskies would not look back. Ten shots by George Mason in the first half and eight in the second produced no goals as senior goalkeeper
Scott Partridge made seven saves in the shutout. It was Partridge's fourth shutout in five CAA matches. He has a .62 GAA this season.
The Huskies amassed 11 shots on the evening and were lead by Danesh who put up four.
Cards were a factor in Saturday's outcome. Four were given out in the match, three yellows and one red. Mason's Derek Markheim earned the red card in the 72nd minute and was ejected from the game.
The win improves the Huskies to 5-6-0 (4-1-0 CAA) on the season. The Huskies have scored nine goals and allowed just three since conference play began.
Northeastern will host Drexel at Parsons Field Wednesday at 2 p.m. as CAA action continues. Live stats will be available at game time and the game will be streamed live on
