Northeastern men's soccer fell to Providence 1-0 Sunday bringing their record to 1-2-0. The game-winning goal was scored by the Friars senior forward, Timothy Ritter in the 34th minute after he beat two defenders to find the net.

The first half saw limited opportunities for the Huskies who weren't able to apply much pressure to Providence. The Friars pressured the Northeastern defense for both halves. Despite solid play from the midfield and junior Santiago Bedoya, Providence senior Tim Murray was able to play a ball deep into the defense toward the streaking Ritter. Ritter played the ball around two Huskies defenders before finding the back of the net from 10 yards out.

Although Northeastern was able to apply more pressure in the second half, the team was held scoreless. Freshman forward Don Anding played a solid game and had Northeastern's best chance of the day after crossing over a defender and firing a shot from 18 yards out.

Goalie Scott Partridge made his first start on the season and made four saves in the loss.

"It was another tough loss on the road," said Huskies head coach Brian Ainscough, whose team has started the season 1-2-0 on a three game road trip. "We're looking to get everything back together so we can score some goals on Tuesday."

Tuesday is the Huskies home opener against in-state rival Holy Cross. The game will be played at Parsons Field at 2 p.m.
