Men's soccer fell to No. 10 Dartmouth today, 1-0 slipping to 1-1-0 on the young season. The goal was scored by junior forward Andrew Olsen on a free kick.

In just the fifth minute, Olsen lined up a deep free kick from 45 yards out, just over midfield. As he arced a long shot towards goalkeeper Michael Gallagher, Gallagher lost his footing and the shot found the back post of the goal.

Northeastern battled hard and saw impressive games from forwards Mike Kennedy and Nick Lueders.

"Nick played one of the best games we've seen from him," said Huskies head coach Brian Ainscough.

Despite their impressive play, neither forward was able to find the back of the net and the Huskies were held scoreless. Dartmouth's freshman goalkeeper Sean Donovan was credited with a shutout.

"This game gave us a benchmark as to where we are," said Ainscough. "[Dartmouth] is the Ivy League champion and the number 10 team and we fought hard. Now we know where we stand."

The loss is the first of the season for the Huskies. They will look to rebound at Providence on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 1 p.m.
