Huskies come up short against Towson, 2-1

The Northeastern men's soccer team fell at the hands of the Towson Tigers, 2-1, Wednesday.

In a game that featured the Tigers being outshot 14-11, and having an 8-3 Huskies advantage in corner kicks, the Huskies were unable to knock off their CAA foe.

Northeastern led 1-0 going in to the half, courtesy of Laurence Braude's goal in the game's 22nd minute.

The Tigers tied the game in the 60th minute behind Liam Maloney's free kick from 24 yards out, earning his fourth goal of the season.

Stefan Froedert gave the Tigers a one-goal cushion with 12:13 remainging in regulation when he took a crossing pass from Phil Martinelli and scored the first goal of his college career.

The Tigers held the Huskies to three shots in the final 12 minutes to earn the victory.

Huskies' Oliver Blum had three saves on the day.

The Huskies go to 4-6-3 on the season and 2-2-3 in CAA play.

Northeastern's next game comes Saturday when they welcome George Mason to Parsons Field for a game slated at 6 p.m. Game coverage will be available at GoNU.TV.
