Huskies lose close contest to George Mason, 1-0

The Northeastern men's soccer team lost in a close match to George Mason Saturday night, 1-0.

Alex Herrera scored the Patriot's lone goal on a shot from the top corner of the box.

The Huskies go to 4-6-2 on the season and 2-2-2 in CAA play while the Patriots advance to 7-5-2 and 3-3-2 in the CAA.

Northeastern controlled the pace of the game, outshooting the Patriots 19-11.

The Huskies best scoring chance came in the game's 12th minute when Mike Kennedy found the keeper out of place in the box and lofted a shot from about 30 yards out. The ball remained in the air just long enough for the keeper to grab it before it passed the goal line.

As the first half came to an end GMU scored however the goal was waived off because of offsides.

Alex Herrara's game-winning goal came in the 77th minute on assists from Brent Brockman and Ryan Gracia.

NU's Oliver Blum made seven saves on the day.

The Huskies next game comes Wednesday at Drexel. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
