Northeastern men's soccer tied VCU Saturday in a double overtime thriller to begin its conference slate.

The Huskies are 2-4-1 on the season while VCU is 3-1-3.

In front of a home-crowd of 336, the Rams put points on the board first behind Brad Seymour's long pass through the middle to Van Yahred who collected the feed, moved to his right, and placed a shot over Huskies goalkeeper Oliver Blum's head and into the upper right of the net.

Huskies Senior Nick Lueders tied the game in the 38th minute on a shot from nine yards out in to the upper left hand corner of the net.

VCU was quick to take the lead back though when Yoram Mwila was taken down inside the box just 52 seconds in to the second half. CJ Gehin-Scott took the penalty kick and was able to convert, putting the Rams ahead 2-1.

Mike Kennedy sent a free kick from 30 yards out and hit the post in the 67th minute but VCU was called for a foul in the box with 18:08 remaining, leaving Kennedy to find the right of the net on a penalty kick to tie the game.

After two hard fought overtimes that featured the Huskies outshooting the Rams 4-3, the game was called in a draw.

The Huskies have a week off and will play its next game Saturday Oct. 2nd at Parsons Field against James Madison.
