Dante Marini scored his sixth goal of the season but it wasn't enough for the Huskies as they were defeated by the George Mason Patriots on Saturday evening, 4-1.

George Mason was first on the board, when Taylor Morgan scored his ninth goal of the year just over 15 minutes into the contest. Morgan received a through pass from Verneri Valimaa and from ten yards out shot to the far post, beating Oliver Blum.

The Huskies leveled the score in the 35th minute however, with Top Phataraprasit setting up Marini. Phataraprasit gathered the ball on the left, just inside the penalty area, and thread a pass to Marini. The sophomore then ripped a low shot to the far post for his team-leading sixth marker of the year, giving Northeastern an opportunity to get back into the game.

That opportunity was effectively killed off when Leo Stolz notched a brace in the span of less than two minutes shortly before half-time. Stolz was in the right place at the right time for George Mason, tapping home a pass just under Blum for his first goal of the night. His second goal played out similarly, as he got a small touch on a pass from Tommy Mulgrew to steer it home, giving the Patriots a two-goal lead heading into the interval.

The Huskies were hard-pressed to find a way back into the game in the second half, and George Mason put an exclamation point on its victory in the 87th. Ryan Garcia notched his third tally of the season, putting home a rebound after Blum was unable to hold onto a Morgan shot.

Despite giving up four goals, Blum still recorded a season-high nine saves in the contest.

The loss sees Northeastern's record drop to 8-5-2 (4-3-1 CAA), while George Mason improves to 6-6-3 (3-4-1 CAA) with the win. The Huskies will next be in action on Wednesday, Oct. 26 when they tackle the Drexel Dragons from Parsons Field. Kick off for that match is scheduled for 6 p.m.
