Northeastern completes competition at CAA Pod Meet

Results 

Day One

Freshman Anna Schegoleva had the best outing for the Huskies, as the Cyprus native won the 100 backstroke in 57.31. Sophomore Dana Schleif also had a top-10 finish in the event, clocking in at 59.56 for eighth place.

Schegoleva also claimed a second place finish in the 200 IM in 2:06.76. Senior Jill Kearns was close behind for fourth place in 2:08.20.

Senior Rachael Peterson placed fourth in the 3-meter diving event with a tally of 237.60 while junior Anne Schaafsma placed sixth with 222.80 points.

Sophomore Adriana Sepulveda provided Northeastern a fifth-place finish in the 200 yard freestyle, as she touched the wall in 1:54.67. Junior Kelley Becherer finished in 1:56.24 for 10th place.

Freshmen Erica DeMunbrun was the top finisher for Northeastern in the 100 butterfly, as she touched the wall in 58.45 for fifth place while classmate Deirdre Esposito finished fifth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.80. Sophomore Julia Alvarez was close behind (1:06.71) for seventh place, just ahead of junior Keary McClernan (1:07.04, eighth place).

Kearns earned a third place finish in the 400 IM, clocking in at 4:32.23. Sophomore Julia Sepulveda was right behind her, touching the wall at 4:32.45 for fourth place.

The quartet for Schleif, Espostio, DeMunbrun and Chelsea Lim registered a fourth place finish in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:48.25. The 200 freestyle relay team of Lim, Nicole Colucci, DeMunbrun and Megan Foran also combined for a fourth place finish in 1:40.14

The Huskies' 400 medley relay team also took fourth place, as Schleif, Esposito, Schegoleva and Sepulveda combined for 3:53.41.

Day Two

Rookie Anna Schegoleva had another impressive performance, as she completed the 200 backstroke in 2:02.94 for second place. Schegoleva set the new school record, besting Dana Schleif's time of 2:03.09 from last season's Terrier Invitational.

Senior Jill Kearns earned a first-place finish in the 200 butterfly (2:05.02) while Julia Sepulveda took fifth in 2:08.78 and Erica DeMunbrun claimed eighth in 2:09.36.

Sophomore Allison Walker took eighth in the 200 back (2:08.82) while Schleif finished in ninth (2:09.19).

Senior tri-captain Rachael Peterson was the top finisher for Northeastern on the 1-meter board, earning 229.75 points for fourth place. Sophomore Candace Young took eighth place with 197.25 points.

Sophomore Adriana Sepulveda earned seventh place in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:04.45 while junior Kelley Becherer took ninth in the 100 freestyle (53.87). She finished just ahead of A. Sepulveda, who took 10th in 53.96.

Junior Keary McClernan was the top finisher for Northeastern in the 200 breaststroke, claiming second in 2:23.20. Sophomore Julia Alvarez finished in seventh in 2:27.73 while rookie Deirdre Esposito claimed ninth in 2:28.41.

The Huskies' 400 freestyle relay team of Schegoleva, Becherer, A. Sepulveda and Chelsea Lim claimed second by clocking in at 3:33.35

The final team scores are as follows:

Northeastern 201 - George Mason 151
James Madison 213 - Northeastern 138
Northeastern 200 - Old Dominion 153
William & Mary 183 - Northeastern 164

Northeastern now stands at 4-3 (2-2 CAA) on the season. The Huskies return to action in two weeks, as Northeastern makes the short journey to Boston University to compete in the Terrier Invitational on Nov. 18-20.
