NEWARK, Del.—The Northeastern men's soccer team was knocked off, 1-0, by Delaware in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) quarterfinals on Saturday night at Delaware Mini-Stadium after the Blue Hens buried a penalty kick in double overtime.
With the loss, the Huskies close out the season with a 6-9-3 overall record, while finishing conference play 3-3-1. Delaware will advance to the semifinals of the CAA tournament where they will face top-seeded Drexel.

Dylan Faber in the first half as they put up three consecutive shots on goal in the 16th, 18th and 19th minute of the contest. Delaware nearly scored with five minutes remaining in the half, but a block from
Ambry Moss cleared the ball to keep the game scoreless entering intermission.Â
Delaware outshot Northeastern, 9-1, and earned twice as many corner kicks (4-2) in the first half, while Faber tallied three saves.
The Huskies came out fighting in the second period, posting the first shot within seconds of returning to the field. In the 73rd minute,
Sam Marley made a bid to put NU ahead, but Delaware goalie Borja Barbero notched his first save of the night to maintain a 0-0 contest.
Despite tallying eight shots in the second half, the Blue Hens did not attempt a shot on goal until the final ten minutes of regulation. Once again, Delaware outshot the Huskies, 8-4, but the score remained, 0-0.
After 90 minutes of scoreless play, the teams battled it out in two overtime periods. Delaware's Roberto Gimenez earned a penalty kick after the Huskies drew a foul in the 106th minute to net the lone-goal of the night and advance the Blue Hens to the conference semifinals.Â
The elimination concludes Northeastern's 2013 slate after its third consecutive playoff trip.
