2013-14 Schedule

BOSTON –
Eleven games against teams from last season's NCAA tournament field, as well as 12 against teams ranked in the top-ten of the USCHO.com poll, highlight the 2013-14 Northeastern women's ice hockey schedule announced by head coach Dave Flint on Friday. The 33-game slate features 13 games at Matthews Arena as well as 21 against Hockey East foes.

"I am excited for this upcoming season and the games we have scheduled," said Flint. "We have a tough non-conference schedule coupled with an always difficult Hockey East schedule."

Following an exhibition game against McGill on Sep. 29, the Huskies kickoff the regular season with back-to-back home games against Syracuse and RIT, beginning Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. against the Orange. NU is 14-0-1 all-time against the two CHA squads, and meets RIT for the first time since 1995.

NU will then head out on the road for four straight tilts against ECAC foes, beginning with Union and RPI on Oct. 11 and 12, respectively before two at defending league champion and NCAA quarterfinalist Cornell on Oct. 19-20.

The Huskies dive into Hockey East play with three games to close out October, starting with a home-and-home series with Providence on Oct. 25-26 before NU hosts reigning WHEA champion and NCAA runner-up Boston University on Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.

A trip to Orono, Maine (Nov. 1) begins a string of seven of eight games away from home for Northeastern. Two days later, NU will play host to New Hampshire at 2 p.m. before a Sunday matinee at Boston College on Nov. 10.

From there, the Huskies head out to Vail, Colo. for two neutral site games against Wisconsin and St. Cloud State on Nov. 15-16. NU and the Badgers are meeting for the first time since 2011 with Northeastern looking to secure its first victory against UW since 1999.

"We have a trip planned in November to go to Vail, Colo. with Wisconsin, St. Cloud, and Boston University in an effort to bring women's college hockey to an area that typically doesn't get exposed to it, in an effort to increase the visibility of the game," Flint said.

NU will look to extend its unbeaten streak to 14 games (12-0-2) against Vermont when the Huskies visit Gutterson Field House for two games on Nov. 22-23 prior to a date at Dartmouth on Nov. 29. Northeastern hasn't lost on the road to Vermont since Feb. 22, 2008, going 8-0-0 after its last loss in Burlington.

Northeastern will close out the first half of the season with two home games against Boston University (Dec. 3) and Connecticut (Dec. 6) before a 28-day layoff for final exams and the holiday break.

Upon their return, NU will get a Beanpot tune-up when the Huskies travel to the Bright Center to battle Harvard on Jan. 4 looking to avenge last season's 3-1 loss and pick up their first win against the Crimson since 2001.

A home and home series with Boston College on Jan. 11-12 sets up a Sunday afternoon matchup at Boston University one week later on Jan. 19. Northeastern will then return home for three straight games at Matthews against Maine (Jan. 24-25) and Vermont (Feb. 1).

The 36th annual Women's Beanpot begins on Feb. 4 as Northeastern looks to secure its third straight tournament title, and 17th overall, when they faceoff against host Harvard at 8 p.m. After a brief return to league play at Providence on Feb. 8, NU squares off with either Boston College or Boston University on Feb. 11 on the second night of the Beanpot.

The Huskies close the season with four straight Hockey East games, first with a home-and-home series with Connecticut on Feb. 15-16 before the regular season finale with New Hampshire on Feb. 22-23.

The 2014 Hockey East playoffs commence on Mar. 1 with quarterfinal series' on campus sites to determine the four teams that will advance to Championship Weekend on Mar. 8-9.

Northeastern is coming off a 23-11-2 record in 2012-13, including the program's 16th Beanpot championship and second appearance in the Hockey East title game in the last three years.
