NEWARK, Del. – The No. 5 seed Northeastern Huskies battled hard in the semifinals of the Colonial Athletic Association postseason tournament, but ultimately suffered a 1-0 setback to the No. 1 seed Blue Hens of Delaware at Grant Stadium on Friday night.

The lone goal of the match came off the foot of Carlos Perales as the midfielder was able to place a free kick in the top-right corner in the 98th minute of action.

On a cold November night, Northeastern (8-11-1, 4-3-1) put together several outstanding scoring chances, but was unable to put one past Delaware's (13-6-1, 5-2-1) goalkeeper, Borja Barbero.

The Huskies' offense registered seven shots during the game, four of which came in the second half.

The game's latter 45 minutes was where Northeastern's forwards shined. The team earned three corner kicks, and put significant pressure on the Blue Hen's defenders. Several shots traveled just wide of the net for the Huskies, despite putting an excellent foot on the ball.

The best scoring chance for Brian Ainscough's squad came in the 43rd minute when forward Christian McKenna settled a ball of his chest and ripped a one-timer on net. McKenna's shot, however, which was from just outside the 18-yard box, sailed wide of the net by a few inches.

Donovan Fayd'Herbe de Maudave, Brad Fountain and Frantzdy Pierrot led NU on the offensive end as each had a team-high two shots.

Pierrot led the charge on several occasions for the Northeastern offense, but the Blue Hens were there to challenge his shots and force them away from the net.

Dylan Faber played extremely well in goal for the Huskies, making four saves in the setback, including several impressive stops in one-on-one situations and well-struck corners. The junior goalkeeper was constantly off his line to cut off the Blue Hen's angles and keep their offense out of sync.

The first half was a struggle for both teams, as the Huskies and Blue Hens never seemed to find a groove in the offensive third. The opening 45 minutes featured a total of just six shots, three from each team.

Faber had to stand several tall a few times in the first half to help keep the Blue Hens off the scoreboard. The junior goalkeeper challenged several cross attempts from Delaware, including an excellent play to secure a header from a Blue Hen's forward to keep the game scoreless.

Game Notes
• The Huskies record in overtime is 5-1-1 this season.
• Both games between the Blue Hens and Huskies this season were decided in overtime.
• NU is now 4-6-2 all-time in CAA postseason play.
