WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Freshman goalkeeper Jonathan Thuresson made two saves, but a 33rd minute goal from Andre Morrison sent Hartford past the Northeastern men's soccer team (1-1-0) on Monday night at Al-Marzook Field.

The Hawks outshot the Huskies 15-10 in the match, while shots on goal and corner kicks were even at three and six apiece, respectively.

The Huskies come out strong in the opening minutes of the first half, maintaining possession and generating several offensive opportunities. Northeastern had a pair of corner chances in the first 15 minutes of the match, and Brad Fountain nearly gave NU an early lead with a chip that went just over the crossbar. Fountain had another bid minutes later with a set piece from 30 yards out that also sailed over the bar.

Hartford began to turn the tide in their favor and control the pace of play midway through the half, and Matt Barry had a couple opportunities to give the Hawks a 1-0 advantage.

Hartford would draw first blood with 12:34 remaining in the first half when Andre Morrison got a head on a corner entry from Barry and buried it past Thuresson on the right side for his first goal of the season.

NU spent the second half attempting to claw its way back into the match and net the tying goal, and Ambry Moss nearly did just that with a header from the right side of the net in the 59th minute, but MacKinnon got a glove on it, resulting in a Husky corner.

At the other end of the field, Simon Cox helped keep the deficit at one in the 66th minute when he blocked a shot attempt from Javoni Simms, who had broken free along the right side of the box.

The Huskies will be back in action on Friday night when Northeastern travels to Richmond, Virginia for a matchup with VCU at 7:30 p.m.

Game Notes:
• Northeastern is now 5-16-2 all-time against Hartford.

• Marc Greenblatt earned his first start of the season on Monday.
