BOSTON – Despite having three players finish the game with multi-point performances, the Northeastern women's hockey team was outmatched by No. 1/1 Boston College as the Eagles skated away with a 7-3 victory on Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena.

Although the Huskies held Boston College scoreless on five power-play opportunities, NU had difficulty stopping the nation's best scoring offense (5.9 goals per game). Seven goals are the most the Huskies have allowed this season since surrendering six on Nov. 8, also against their crosstown rivals.

Northeastern (6-10-4, 5-5-1 WHEA) fired a total of 37 shots at Eagles goaltender Taylor Blake, nine more than when the two teams had first met earlier this year. Kendall Coyne earned her second consecutive two-point game with one goal and one assist, while teammate Halle Silva registered her first career multi-point game, also with one goal and one assist. Denisa Krizova assisted on two of the Huskies' three goals, boosting her season-point total to 15 (five goals, 10 assists).

With the victory, Boston College (19-0-1, 12-0-0 WHEA) extended its undefeated streak to 20 straight games to open the 2014-15 campaign, the longest streak in program history. Seven different skaters scored for the Eagles, led by Alex Carpenter, Hayley Skarupa, and Megan Keller, who each tallied one goal and two assists on the afternoon.

After attempting 46 shots against the Huskies on Nov. 8, Boston College ripped a total of 52 shots at NU goaltenders Sarah Foss and Chloe Desjardins on Saturday. Foss made 28 saves during 40 minutes of work, while Desjardins allowed just one goal in 18 shots faced.

Freshman forward Taytum Clairmont scored her first collegiate goal in the third period against the Eagles, bringing her first-year total to six points (one goal, five assists) in 19 games this season.

Northeastern kept the Eagles at bay for the majority of the first period. Boston College's Kristyn Capizzano netted her eighth goal of the year at 7:22 in the opening stanza. The Huskies were determined to carry a one-goal deficit into the second period, but the Eagles had other plans, cashing in with 30 seconds to play in the first as Dana Trivigno's shot slid just between Foss' right pad and the left pipe.

Boston College would add to its lead with a four-goal performance in the second period. Alex Carpenter scored her NCAA-leading 20th goal of the season just 65 seconds into the frame, while Megan Keller sunk the game-winner one minute later off the sticks of Kate Leary and Tori Sullivan.

NU threw its first goal up on the scoreboard at 9:34 in the second, when Krizova dished a puck on a two-on-one breakaway over to Silva, who beat Blake high to cut the Eagles' lead to 4-1. Boston College would tally two more goals late in the second, and took a commanding 6-1 lead into the final period.

Trailing 7-1 midway through the third, Northeastern continued to fight hard for open shooting lanes, and found one when Coyne raced behind the net and fired a turnaround shot that scooted by Blake, finding the back of the net. Clairmont's goal on a give-and-go play at 14:33 in the third period brought the Huskies back to within four, but the Eagles would hold on to earn a 7-3 victory.

Northeastern will travel to Chestnut Hill on Sunday, Jan. 11 for a 2 p.m. rematch against No. 1/1 Boston College at the Conte Forum.
