Peter Roby to host meet-and-greet during Parent’s Weekend

BOSTON – Parent's Weekend is fast approaching at Northeastern, and the Huskies are excited to host a meet-and-greet with director of athletics and recreation, Peter Roby, on Friday, October 16th at 2:30pm in the Cabot Center Team Room (Room 158). Roby will go over last year's success with athletics on campus and discuss the strategies and next steps to continue to grow the athletic experience on campus. Don't miss out on the opportunity to learn more about athletics while also viewing a highlight video from the year.

Roby was named Northeastern's ninth athletic director on June 21, 2007. Roby, former men's basketball head coach at Harvard University, marketing vice president at Reebok and director of Northeastern's Center for Sport in Society, brings broad experience and unique perspective to his position. Roby oversees Northeastern's 18-sport, NCAA Division I athletic department, which competes in the highly-competitive Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), Hockey East Association and Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges (EARC). In addition, he oversees Northeastern Campus Recreation, which offers more than 40 club and 30 intramural sports teams, as well as a wealth of physical education opportunities for Northeastern students.

In September 2012, Roby was appointed to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee. The 10-member committee is responsible for selecting and seeding the NCAA tournament field every year. Committee members serve five-year terms.

Athletics continues to be a large part of the Northeastern experience and a great way for the community to come together and support the Huskies. As the fall seasons are in full swing, our student-athletes are working hard in and out of the classroom. In addition to the student-athletes competing at the varsity level, we also have approximately 1,600 students joining a club sports roster and many other students showing their passion for health and wellness through participating in our intramural programs. There are a variety of ways our students, alumni, parents and friends can be involved with our athletic programs and in addition to visiting the schedule, we also wanted to share a unique opportunity for the entire family to experience over Parent's Weekend.

Following the meet-and-greet, everyone is encouraged to head to Matthews Arena as the men's ice hockey team hosts Bentley at 7 p.m.

Please contact Meg Connolly, Development Officer for Athletics, at me.connolly@neu.edu or (617) 373-4394 with any questions or to RSVP to the event.

Show your pride for the Red and Black. We look forward to seeing you there!
