Goal Recaps• Coyne opened the scoring with a breakaway snipe at the 18:45 mark of the first period. Junior
Heather Mottau started the play with a feed up the left boards to Krizova, who was able to direct the puck into space in the neutral zone. Coyne latched onto the loose puck, skated by a defender, and wristed a shot under the blocker of MC netminder Samantha Ridgewell to make it 1-0.
• Northeastern doubled the lead midway through the second period when Zalewski stole the puck outside the blue line and skated in on the right wing, before unleashing a wrister under the crossbar at 10:33.
• Coyne made it 3-0 five minutes later with a dazzling individual effort. After taking a feed from senior
Jordan Krause at center ice, Coyne skated through all five Merrimack players, before banking a shot off Ridgewell from behind the goal line.
• Scamurra capped a three-goal second period with her sixth of the season at 18:59 of the frame. Ridgewell made the initial save on Coyne at the left of the net, but Scamurra crashed the cage and was rewarded when the puck popped into space for an easy finish in the slot to make it 4-0.
• Merrimack scored its lone goal on a shot by Paige Voight that took a deflection between the circles and skipped by Bugalski at the 6:35 mark of the third period.
