Big Green score two late to clip Huskies

HANOVER, N.H. – Sporting an eight-shot advantage during the first half, the Northeastern men's soccer team could not fight off a talented Dartmouth side on Tuesday as the Huskies suffered a 2-0 setback in their regular-season finale.
 
The Big Green slipped past Northeastern (3-12-2) courtesy of two late goals occurring during the final 16 minutes of play. Dartmouth's Amadu Kunateh broke a scoreless tie in the 75th minute before Eduvie Ikoba wrapped up a 2-0 win for the Big Green with a goal coming ten minutes later.
 
Junior forward Christian McKenna led the Huskies with five shot attempts, directing two on goal. Harry Swartz closed out the season for Northeastern with two shot attempts and one shot on goal, while Frantzdy Pierrot also managed to lace two shots before the final whistle.
 
Sophomore defender Lewis Aird also registered his third shot of the season during the 26th minute of play. Nine different Huskies ended the match with at least one shot attempt. 
 
Northeastern outshot Dartmouth (10-4-1), 10-2, during the game's opening 45 minutes, boasting a 4-0 advantage against the Big Green in shots on goal. By full time, Dartmouth was able to score two goals on just three shots on goal, while the Huskies were left scoreless on 15 total shots, five of which were placed on net.
 
GOAL RECAPS
-Dartmouth (75'): After nearly an hour and 15 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Big Green were the first team able to break the scoring drought as Amadu Kunateh netted his fourth goal of the year, back-heeling a pass from Alberto Gorini.
-Dartmouth (85'): Holding a 1-0 lead against Northeastern for roughly 10 minutes, Eduvie Ikoba sealed the victory for Dartmouth, scoring an unassisted goal through the left corner of the net.
 
STATS OF THE GAME
-Christian McKenna attempted five shots for the second consecutive game, having done so against Drexel on Oct. 31. McKenna appeared in 14 games this season, but recorded 15 of his 20 shot attempts during the Huskies' final four games.
-Two goals are the most Northeastern has allowed in the second half during the entire 2015 season (17 games).
-Frantzdy Pierrot finished the 2015 season as the Huskies' points leader (12) for the second consecutive season. Pierrot matched his 2014 production of five goals this year and was also credited with two assists.
-Earning his 17th start of the season against Dartmouth, freshman defender Martin Nygaard played in every minute during the Huskies' 2015 campaign. The rookie totaled 1,599 minutes of action and was one of two NU players to have started all 17 games (Harry Swartz).
