BOSTON -- Peter Roby, Northeastern director of athletics and recreation and Co-Chair for the 2015 Massachusetts White Ribbon Day Campaign, sat down with Rod Morrison of WBPX-TV to discuss the upcoming White Ribbon Day on March 5. Sponsored by Jane Doe Inc. and part of an international human rights effort, the Massachusetts White Ribbon Day Campaign invites men and boys to be part of the solution in ending violence against women.

Roby's goal, along with fellow Co-Chair and Northwestern District Attorney David E. Sullivan, is to carry a message that how people imagine and value manhood and masculinity significantly impacts their ability to end and prevent violence against women.

"I invite every man in Massachusetts to join me in being an Ambassador for the White Ribbon Day Campaign," Roby said. "My goal is to engage my sports colleagues in a coordinated effort to end this epidemic and make our community safe for everyone regardless of gender. By lending your voice and reaching out to the men and boys in your community, you will be part of the solution to end violence against women and making our community safer for everyone regardless of gender."

On the first Thursday in March, men throughout Massachusetts will speak out to change societal attitudes and beliefs that perpetuate and make excuses for violence against women, promote safety and respect in all relationships and situations, and build a network of resounding voices that will support and advance the initiatives and efforts of Jane Doe Inc. and its member organizations to promote the safety, liberty and dignity of survivors.

"conversatION with Rod Morrison" airs the second and fourth Thursdays of every month at 6:30 a.m. on WBPX-TV, Channel 68. Check your local cable lineup for exact channel number.
