BROOKLINE, Mass.  – A late goal by sophomore Khesanio Hall with 10 seconds to play in the second half helped the Northeastern men's soccer team avoid a shutout against Providence on Saturday night as the Friars escaped Parsons Field with a 2-1 victory.

Hall opened his Northeastern scoring account in the 90th minute, tipping in a cross from junior Marc Greenblatt, who picked up his first assist of the season. Greenblatt charged up the left side of the field during the closing seconds of the half and managed to send a low cross up the side line to Hall, who cleaned up the play for the Huskies' first goal since Aug. 30.

Eight players, including two reserves, registered at least one shot attempt for Providence (4-2-1) as the Friars totaled 14 shots on the evening. Mac Steeves posted his team-leading seventh goal of the season in the 38th minute, while Dominik Machado produced the eventual game-winning goal in the 79th minute.

Harry Swartz and Hall combined for all five of Northeastern's shot attempts during the match, with the two NU strikers combining for just three shots on goal.

One match after earning his fourth career shutout against Fairfield on Sept. 12, Jonathan Thuresson saved five of the seven shots he faced, increasing his season total to 12 saves. Thuresson made four saves during the second half despite surrendering a 25-yard strike by Machado with just more than 12 minutes to play.

Northeastern (0-3-2) will look to bounce back on Tuesday, Sept. 22, when the Huskies wrap up a three-game home stand against New Hampshire at 6 p.m.
