KEY LARGO, Fla. – Taking a break from six straight days of training, the Northeastern swim team got back into the racing mindset at the Orange Bowl Classic this afternoon in Key Largo. Besides Northeastern, five other women's programs took part in the competition including Duquesne, Florida International, George Mason, Michigan and Middlebury. Despite being in the middle of an extremely rigorous training stint, the Huskies kept pace with some of the top swimmers in the country. In addition to the meet results, senior Kerry Treusdell shared a behind the scenes look of the Orange Bowl.

(Note: The Orange Bowl Classic, hosted by Jacobs Aquatic Center in Key Largo, is a 25-meter short course pool. While in Florida, the Huskies are training exclusively in a 50-meter long course pool. Barletta Natatorium and most other regular season competition pools are 25-yard short course pools.)

"Today was a little different than our other workouts here in Islamorada. Instead of our usual routine of practicing, we got to put our hard work to the test during a swim meet, against multiple other teams who are also here in Florida for their training trip, called the Orange Bowl Swim Classic. There was great competition with teams we wouldn't normally swim against, great food, and great attitudes from your Husky swimmers who were ready to compete. "

The Huskies arrived at the Jacobs Aquatic Center at 8 a.m. sharp to begin warming up in the pool to swim against Duquesne, Florida International, George Mason, Michigan and Middlebury.

"After the meet, all of the swimmers were rewarded with lunch, which consisted of two types of pasta, potatoes, salad, and of course, brownies. A well deserved meal after some fast swimming!"
