CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Northeastern women's hockey team (12-9-2, 8-6-1 WHEA) earned its second victory over a top-two opponent this season with a 4-2 upset over No. 2 Boston College (18-2-3, 12-1-3 WHEA) on Friday afternoon at Kelley Rink. The Huskies previously knocked off No. 1 Wisconsin on Nov. 24 and are the only team in the nation with multiple wins over teams ranked No. 2 or higher this season.

Senior Lauren Kelly, redshirt junior Tori Sullivan, sophomore Andrea Renner and senior Taytum Clairmont scored for Northeastern, while junior Brittany Bugalski stopped 26 of 28 shots in net. With the win, Bugalski moved into a tie with Florence Schelling for the fourth-most victories in program history with 49.

The Huskies outshot the Eagles, 31-28, and held BC's high-flying offense off the scoresheet at even-strength.

Goal Recaps
• The Huskies took the lead on the power-play midway through the opening period. After a BC faceoff win in the defensive zone, Lauren Kelly picked the pocket of an Eagles' defenseman and slipped a shot through the pads of BC netminder Katie Burt (27 saves) from the bottom of the left circle at the 11:41 mark.
• Boston College answered with a power-play goal of its own just 2:24 into the second period when Makenna Newkirk swept home a loose puck at the left of the cage following a tipped centering pass by Daryl Watts.
• Tori Sullivan gave NU the lead back with a goal against her former team early in the third period. After Sullivan forced a turnover in the BC zone, the redshirt junior shifted a pass to McKenna Brand on the right wing, who quickly dropped a feed to Codie Cross at the top of the right circle. Cross then threw the puck back across the goal-mouth to Sullivan, who tapped it home from close range at the 1:30 mark.
• The Eagles quickly equalized at 3:49 of the final frame when Caitrin Lonergan converted the Eagles' second power-play goal of the afternoon following another feed from Watts.
• Renner put the Huskies ahead for good less than two minutes later. Following a defensive-zone faceoff win, senior Shelby Herrington found a streaking Renner open on the left wing. The sophomore eventually worked the puck behind the BC cage to senior Ainsley MacMillan, who won a battle and returned the disc to Renner at the bottom of the left circle for a backhand that beat Burt short-side at 5:39.
• Taytum Clairmont put the icing on the cake with a goal on her birthday, taking a feed from Kasidy Anderson on the left wing, before beating Burt with a shot that deflected off the skate of a defenseman and through the legs of Burt at 9:50 of the third period.

Stats of the Game
• Lauren Kelly scored for the third straight game and notched her fifth goal in the last five games overall.
• Kelly's goal moved her into a tie for 10th place among Northeastern's all-time highest-scoring defenders with 55 career points.
• McKenna Brand earned her 99th career point with an assist on Tori Sullivan's goal.
• Andrea Renner extended her point-streak to three straight games and notched her second collegiate game-winning goal.
• Northeastern improved to 10-0-2 this season when scoring the first goal.
• The Huskies handed Boston College its first Hockey East loss and snapped the Eagles' 12-game unbeaten streak.
• Northeastern is the only team to beat Boston College in its last 80 games at Kelley Rink, claiming two wins over that span (73-2-5).

Up Next
The Huskies will look for the weekend sweep on Saturday when the puck drops from Matthews Arena at 12 p.m. The contest will be NU's annual Skating Strides game as the team will wear special pink jerseys for the event.
