BOSTON – Sophomore
Matti Hartman notched her first collegiate two-goal game and sophomore
Codie Cross added a goal and two assists as the Northeastern women's hockey team (13-10-3, 9-7-2 WHEA) picked up a 5-3 victory over UConn (7-11-7, 1-10-4 WHEA) on Military Appreciation Night Friday at Matthews Arena.
Freshman
Veronika Pettey (one goal, one assist) and senior
Denisa Krizova also scored, while junior goaltender
Brittany Bugalski stopped 19 shots to earn her 50th collegiate win. Bugalski is one of only four netminders in program history to win at least 50 games, joining Erika Silva (61), Shannon Meyers (57) and Chloe Desjardins (55).

Codie Cross gave Northeastern the lead just 34 seconds into the game when she exchanged passes with
McKenna Brand in the UConn zone, before wristing a shot inside the right post from between the circles.
• The visiting Huskies evened the scoreline with 30 ticks showing on the first-period clock. Following a faceoff win by Briana Colangelo, Emily Reid threw a point-shot at the net that deflected off the stick of Colangelo, inside the left post, to make it 1-1.

Matti Hartman gave NU the lead back at 14:25 of the second stanza, taking a feed from
Andrea Renner along the left wing, before ripping a shot inside the far post from the bottom of the circle.
• UConn again pulled even when Natalie Snodgrass sniped a shot under the crossbar from the left wing on a power-play at 1:54 of the final frame.

Matti Hartman gave NU the lead for good just 14 seconds later when she took a pass from freshman
Veronika Pettey and split the UConn defense on the right wing, before rifling a shot inside the left post at 2:08.

Denisa Krizova tacked on an insurance goal at 8:47 of the third period, knocking home a rebound at the left of the cage following a
Codie Cross shot.
• UConn pulled a goal back at 14:33 when Catherine Crawley found a loose puck at the right of the NU net and deposited the disc after a shot from Jaime Fox.

Veronika Pettey put the icing on the cake at 17:04 with a beautiful deflection at the right of the net following an
Ainsley MacMillan point-shot.
Stats of the Game
• Northeastern won its 10th straight game against UConn and improved to 22-0-3 in its last 25 games against the other Huskies.
• Senior
McKenna Brand extended her point-streak to 10 straight games with an assist in the first period. Brand has five goals, 12 assists and 17 points during that span.
• Sophomore
Matti Hartman notched her first collegiate two-goal game and her third collegiate multi-point effort.

Codie Cross posted the second three-point game of her collegiate career (Oct. 20, 2017 vs. Syracuse).
• Senior
Denisa Krizova moved into sole possession of sixth place among the highest scorers in NU history with 160 career points. Krizova needs 13 more points to pass 2002 Patty Kazmaier Award winner Brooke Whitney for fifth.
• Junior
Brittany Bugalski earned her 50th collegiate win, good for the fourth-most in program history.
