BOSTON – Talene Pomfret has joined the external affairs unit as the associate director of marketing and game day experience, as announced by deputy athletic director
Tim Duncan on Wednesday. Pomfret joins the Howlin' Huskies following a two-year stint with the Boston Bruins, where she served as the marketing coordinator.
"I am thrilled to have Talene join our department and lead our marketing efforts," said Duncan. "As we continue to implement innovative changes to our game day experience, we believe that Talene's expertise at industry leading organizations will serve our department well and help provide our fans with a first class experience when they attend our games."
Pomfret spent the last two seasons with the Boston Bruins, where she was responsible for strategizing and implementing marketing campaigns for the six key business areas of the Boston Bruins organization: Brand, Tickets, Retail, Boston Bruins Foundation, Community Relations, and Youth Hockey Department. She would also research email, social media, and creative trends across brand platforms to integrate successful practices into all marketing campaigns, and collaborate with Boston's digital team to develop strategy for upcoming marketing campaigns by analyzing data and researching best practices, among other duties.
"I am excited to join Northeastern," Pomfret said. "It is no secret the athletics department has been doing big things this past year. I hope to be able to utilize my knowledge of the Boston market and my experiences in collegiate and professional sports to help build upon the Howlin' Huskies brand."
Pomfret also spent more than a year with the New England Patriots and the New England Revolution as a marketing coordinator, where she was responsible for coordinating and executing sponsorship activations to increase partners' brand awareness at Gillette Stadium events, including fulfilling contractual cheerleading, mascot, and alumni appearances, enhancing the experience of top-tier clients by coordinating updates and renovations to 88 luxury suites and helping to organize player autograph signings for both the New England Patriots and New England Revolution.
Pomfret graduated from Virginia Tech in 2013 with a degree in business marketing, where she spent time in the athletics department as a marketing intern. Following graduation, she was a marketing and broadcasting intern with the Washington Nationals before joining New England.
In addition, Duncan announced Tuesday that
Nicole Girard has shifted into the role of assistant athletic director for annual giving and external affairs, where she will primarily focus on the Howlin' Huskies Fund.
Zac White has also joined the external affairs unit through the Aspire Group with an emphasis on group sales.
