BOSTON -- The Northeastern track & field program is proud to announce the addition of four new coaches to the 2018-19 staff along with the promotion of

Â
Head coach,
Tramaine Shaw, has hired
Consandria Walker-Hall as the Associate Head Coach for track & field. She joins the Northeastern staff from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, where she served as the Head Coach for eight years. As a Northeastern alumna, Walker-Hall returns to her alma-mater after leading the Beacons to set over 50 school program records under her direction. Walker-Hall will focus on women's sprints and men's and women's horizontal jumps while serving at Northeastern.
Â
Steve Waithe is the second addition to Northeastern's coaching staff, joining the Huskies as the Assistant Coach for vertical jumps. Waithe most recently served as an interim coach at the University of Tennessee, responsible for turning the jumps program in the right direction. He finished his time with multiple conference scorers, a school record, a 2
nd team All-American and a US Championships 6
th place finish.
Â
The third addition to this year's staff is Assistant Coach,
John Murray. Murray, a two-time NCAA semi-finalist in the 5000m, comes from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he worked with the men's distance runners and led one student-athlete to a New England Championship title in the 3000m steeplechase. He will serve as the Assistant Coach, working with the distance and mid-distance athletes.
Â
Wilfredo de Jesus Elias serves as the final addition to the 2018-19 coaching staff as an Assistant Coach. After a successful career as the Assistant Coach at Yale University, de Jesus joins the Huskies to work with the throwing program. While at Yale, de Jesus led the men's and women's throws program, where he oversaw many Ivy League shot put scorers and two IC4A qualifiers. After competing on a national level for his native country of Puerto Rico, de Jesus continues to hold the senior weight throw record of 20.70m and was named the 2007 National Athlete of the Year.
Â
Finally,
Matt Lonergan enters his sixth season with Northeastern, with a new title this year – Associate Head Coach for cross-country. Lonergan has served the past five years as the Assistant Coach working with the distance and mid-distance athletes on cross-country and track & field, helping them earn 78 spots on the NU All-Time Performance List, set 19 school records and win the 2015 and 2016 men's IC4A Cross-Country Championships. His record indicates his dedication and success to the Northeastern track and field and cross-country programs, and his promotion comes at an exciting time in program history.
Â
Shaw says, "I am extremely excited about the promotion of Coach Lonergan and the addition of our new staff. I truly believe that the diversity in the background, knowledge and experience will help bring out the best in our student-athletes and myself. I am looking forward to working with this staff as we continue to build on our program's proud legacy and work towards increasing our goals."
